ARCHITECTS FOR AID EL SHADDAI CHARITABLE TRUST

IF_UNTITED architects have been involved in planning a new sustainable village for the adolescent children of a Local NGO in India. The plan was drawn-up through a process of debate and discussions facilitated by IF_UNTITED through a series of workshops with the young people who need to learn independent living skills. Our working principals were based upon the following: a) To create equality through encouraging an environment of knowledge sharing and information sharing. b) To have transparent decision making process ie. Open discussions between all stakeholders at workshops and consultations. c) To empower all stakeholders by nominating decision making powers. IF_UNTITED set-up the operational frameworks for creating the master plan, raising issues and nominating focal points and coordinating the information and formulating the master plan. As a result, the stakeholders - young people became heavily involved in the survey, design and testing construction techniques. Through this process we saw a massive leap in the young people’s ability and confidence to debate and think solutions for their new village.
